Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta’s first satellite city, was meticulously planned in 1948 by renowned Indonesian city planner Soesilo. Over the years, it has evolved into a bustling business district, but its rich cultural heritage remains a defining feature of the area. The CSW Intersection, once home to a vibrant roundabout, lost its historical significance over time, prompting the need for renewal and rejuvenation.
Urban Intervention
In response to the changing landscape and the growing demand for efficient public transportation, the Jakarta government initiated a competition to reimagine the CSW Intersection. The winning design, crafted by Studio Lawang, sought to integrate the Transjakarta busway corridor and the MRT railway while paying homage to the area’s heritage.
