Revitalizing a Landmark
The primary objective of the project was to transform the historic building of a former publishing house, dating back to the 1930s, into a sophisticated and design-oriented luxury hotel. Retaining the property’s original façade, Stamba Hotel pays homage to its heritage while infusing contemporary elements into its décor.
Unique Design Elements
A striking feature of Stamba Hotel is its ‘jungle lobby,’ a magnificent 5-story high atrium adorned with a lush variety of trees. The crowning jewel is a glass-bottomed rooftop swimming pool offering panoramic views of the city. Greenery is integrated both indoors and outdoors, creating a harmonious connection with nature throughout the hotel’s public spaces.
Art and Culture Integration
The hotel boasts an impressive collection of contemporary Georgian artwork, showcasing the region’s rich artistic heritage. Moreover, Stamba Hotel houses a vast library with up to 80,000 books, paying homage to its origins as a publishing hub and offering guests a cultural experience within its walls.
Preservation and Restoration
Led by the in-house team of architects and designers, Stamba Hotel’s restoration efforts focused on preserving the landmark’s original structure and historical significance. Elements such as the façade, concrete walls, and warehouse-style windows were meticulously restored to highlight the building’s brutalist architectural style.
Organic Authenticity
What sets Stamba Hotel apart is its organic and authentic ambiance. Salvaged printing equipment, including conveyor belts and printing machines, are tastefully integrated into the interior design, adding a touch of nostalgia and storytelling to the guest experience.
