Conceptual Harmony
NANA Coffee Roasters Bangna, conceptualized by IDIN Architects, aims to elevate the coffee-drinking experience by placing coffee at the forefront of attention. The architectural expression of the project is deliberately simplified, with a focus on seamlessly integrating architectural spaces with the surrounding landscape. This approach creates an immersive environment that draws visitors’ focus away from the bustling Bangna-Trad motorway and towards the rich coffee experience.
Blurring Boundaries
The project blurs the boundaries between architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture, creating interconnected spaces that prioritize the visitor’s experience over Instagram-ability. By integrating exterior and interior spaces, NANA Coffee Roasters Bangna fosters a sense of continuity and fluidity, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in the coffee-drinking journey.
Architectural Elements
The main buildings feature a cohesive roofline that extends into three distinct masses housing the Speed Bar and indoor seating areas. Greenery from the surrounding landscape infiltrates the gaps between these structures, seamlessly blending the exterior with the interior. Reflective glass mosaics on the ceiling further enhance this integration, creating a dynamic interplay between the built environment and nature. Renovated sections of the existing building serve as the Slow Bar and service zone, while independent restroom pods offer privacy amidst the lush surroundings.
Functional Simplicity
Both the exterior and interior design prioritize simplicity and functionality, with an unwavering focus on the coffee-drinking experience. Counters wrapped around the perimeter of the room guide visitors’ attention to the coffee, encouraging a moment of pause and reflection. Uneven contoured surfaces on the counters add tactile interest, further enhancing the sensory experience of enjoying a cup of coffee. Additionally, the design of signage and other elements incorporates subtle details that reveal themselves upon closer inspection, encouraging focused engagement with the space.
In essence, NANA Coffee Roasters Bangna embodies a holistic approach to coffee culture, where architecture, interior design, and landscape seamlessly converge to create a space that celebrates the art of coffee-making and consumption. Through thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail, the project offers visitors a tranquil retreat where they can savor every moment of their coffee-drinking journey.
