Architectural Workshop Circull presents a unique architectural endeavor with the House for Dockers Offices, blending functionality with artistic expression in a port setting.
Concealed Design:
Situated amidst the container storage area, the Dockers’ House adopts a “backstage design” approach to seamlessly integrate with its surroundings. Embracing the port’s main functional feature, the design cleverly incorporates the imagery of a trawl ship, symbolizing the facility’s connection to maritime activities.
Structural Innovation:
Contrary to its container ship façade, the building boasts a robust metal frame engineered to withstand seismic activity, common in the region. The facade’s “pie” composition features shaped elements mirroring cargo container doors, complemented by burnt wood finishes, offering a striking visual contrast.
Ingenious Site Integration:
Positioned at the base of a hill with significant elevation changes, the building incorporates retaining walls as both structural elements and aesthetic enhancements. Concrete terraces encircling the structure maintain an industrial feel, while wooden-textured formwork on the upper levels evokes the ambiance of a ship’s deck.
Holistic Design Approach:
Beyond its exterior, the project encompasses interior design, graphic navigation, and corporate identity elements. Drawing inspiration from maritime motifs, the interior features porthole windows, deck-like finishes, and nautical-themed lighting fixtures. Vibrant accents, particularly in yellow bathrooms, add visual intrigue amidst an otherwise monochrome palette.
Reflective Color Palette:
The color scheme mirrors the company’s corporate identity, with blue façade and interior elements echoing the logo’s hues. Red accents, representing the company’s secondary color, are tastefully incorporated into furniture design. This harmonious blend of colors pays homage to Kamchatka’s natural beauty, evoking imagery of blue volcanoes and crimson sunsets over Avacha Bay.
Architectural Workshop Circull’s House for Dockers Offices exemplifies a harmonious fusion of form and function, seamlessly integrating into its industrial surroundings while celebrating the maritime heritage of the port.
